Gun Violence Intervention – GVI Contract and New CHSP Funding Category
The Commission unanimously approved a multi-year gun violence intervention strategy anchored by a contract with the National Network for Safe Communities' Group Violence Intervention program. Year 1 funding totals $1,000,000, divided among the GVI contract, the Community Connections restorative justice program, Big Bend Crime Stoppers, and a newly created Community Human Services Partnership (CHSP) funding category. Year 2 allocations continue support for all four areas with a larger CHSP pool. Commissioner Williams-Cox amended the motion to ensure Big Bend Crime Stoppers was included in the funding.
